Tasting Note
Deep purple colour, with lots of fruit and spice on the nose. Blackberry and cocoa flavours develop on the palate with plenty of ripe fruit like succulent plums with a surprisingly fresh profile. Smooth tannins show in the finish but do not divert from the smooth fruity delivery.

Winemaking
The blend in the 2019 vintage is one of the first to be curated according to the effect of climate change in the Bordeaux region.
There is an increased proportion of Cabernet Franc (contributing mocha notes with green pepper notes) and Malbec (adding body and mulberry flavours with warm spice notes).
Vineyards are on south facing slopes with soil compositions very favourable for thriving Merlot and Cabernet. The wine is unoaked allowing the individual grapes’ characteristics to show, yet the full flavours adds body to the final profile.

Fun Fact
Over 75% of Malbec worldwide is from Argentina, but the grape originates from the south west of France and particularly in Bordeaux. Argentinian Malbec is plummy with a hint of spice while Malbec from Bordeaux has more depth of flavour, richer fruit and some edgy tannins.

Food pairing
Ideal for sipping solo or as an accompaniment to antipasto and charcuterie as well as grilled meats and baked pasta dishes
