Tasting Note

Brilliant claret ruby colour, typical Pinot Noir rich fruit aroma with intense strawberries and cherries with intriguing notes of chocolate, green tea and dates. The intense fruit aromas continue of the vibrant palate. It has power and structure but is, at the same time, lively with some woody cedar notes in the long, smooth finish, very tasty.

Winemaking

Pinot Noir grapes are harvested from Quinta do Casal de Madeira (single estate), destemmed and fermented traditionally. There is a secondary malolactic fermentation which smooths out the tannins and adds some complexity to the wine’s texture.

The wine is aged in 225 litre barrels of French Allier oak for 5 months followed by ageing in the bottle for a minimum of 5 months.

The Always on Friday concept was inspired by clubbing in New York’s Studio 54, thus the weekend friendly wine was created with an Andy Warholesque label and the choice of grape? “It has to be Pinot Noir, darling”
