Producer
The Baron D’Arignac was born in 1649 in the castle of Arignac located in the heart of the Pyrenees Mountains which was the property of his family since 1455. After visiting his uncle’s vineyards at the age of 18, the young Baron, full of passion and ambitions, decided to learn about wines. In 1676, he independently blended his first red wine of the Baron d’Arignac cuvee. Humbly, he sent the wines to all his relatives as well as many close royal families for their critique. Their positive response encouraged what was to be his lifelong career.
Commercialised in the 1980’s, the Baron d’Arignac range of wines is one of the most widely distributed wine brands in the world.
Winemaking
Warm vineyards in the Languedoc ensure high concentration of flavours in the grapes. Harvested when fully ripe. The grapes are de-stemmed, gently crushed, then vatted under controlled temperatures (25°C) to bring out the aromas of the red fruits and extract the maximum colour and polyphenols. After racking, the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks resulting in well-structured, harmonious wines
Fun Fact
As an homage to the original Baron d’Arignac, his family coat of arms is embossed on each bottle as well as a discreet portrait on the label.
Food pairing
The ideal accompaniment for grills, slow roasted red meats, charcuterie and strong, aged cheeses.
