Producer
Immersed in nature and its silence, Caiarossa, situated in the heart of the Val di Cecina, on the Tuscan coast, exists within its own area of unspoiled beauty. The location of this estate is part of its attraction, giving the sensation that one is the first to discover the property. Yet, Caiarossa, with its sensations of subtle luxuriousness, has existed only since 1998. In 2004 Caiarossa was acquired by Eric Albada Jelgersma, a Dutch entrepreneur with a great passion for wine and also the owner of Chateau Giscours and Chateau du Tertre - two Grand Crus classé in Margaux, Bordeaux.
Critical Acclaim
Vivino 4.3
97 points Falstaff
Powerful, bright ruby violet. Opens with notes of graphite and tobacco, rich dark berries, above all blueberry and elderberry, some eucalyptus. Also shows a lot of tobacco on the palate, unfolds with grippy tannin, deep, earthy notes, some tomato paste, firm drive on the finish, but also drying.
96 points James Suckling TOP 100 ITALIAN WINES OF 2018 #73
The nose immediately shows a fabulous contrast between riper mulberries and blackberry crumble and freshly ground herbs, citrus and incense. The palate shows much the same polish, carrying bright blue-fruit flavors across a bedrock of muscular tannins and driven acidity. This finishes long and very grainy yet succulent. Drink after 2022

The organic 2017 Caiarossa displays bright and focused fruit, framed by an elegant mineral note of crushed limestone. The fruit is presented as dark cherry and sweet blackberry, but the wine also shows savory tones of tobacco and cured leather. However, those candied cherry and raspberry notes emerge with distinction and underline the heat of the vintage.
93 points Decanter
2017 was one of the hottest recorded vintages in Tuscany, and while the alcohol is well balanced in the overall structure, you feel the warmth of the year through the exuberant and exotic fig and raspberry puree fruit. Rich, powerful and concentrated, some dryness to the tannins on the finish but overall this is seductive and well balanced. Tuscan estate located in the Maremma and owned by the Albada family of Château Giscours. Farmed biodynamically.

This is concentrated, with vanilla, cedar and toast notes framing black cherry and plum fruit. The tannins are present and well-proportioned, lending support without dominating. The length reveals the potential here. Best from 2020 through 2030. 3,150 cases made.
