The motto of the Cheval Quancard wine company is “l'émotion des bordeaux nous inspire“. “We are inspired by the emotion of Bordeaux”
Founded in 1844 by Pierre Quancard, the Cheval Quancard company has grown over the years and now owns ten chateaux in various prestigious appellations. As a negociant, the company also has partnerships with additional chateaux as well. Cheval Quancard prides itself on offering a range of Bordeaux wines which surpass expectations in terms of quality, diversity, authenticity and value.
Château de Terrefort-Quancard has belonged to the Quancard family since 1891. Built in the 16th century by a family from the nobility of Bordeaux, the Château has been a historical part of Bordeaux for hundreds of years. The estate happens to be exactly on the 45th parallel, midway between the Equator and North Pole, traditionally considered the best location for great classic wines.
Winemaking
Traditional Bordeaux vinification with 3 weeks maceration in concrete tanks. At least 12 months ageing with 50% in steel and 50% in oak.
Fun Fact
The first Chateau owned by Pierre Quancard was Château de Bordes-Quancard which was originally a stud farm. In 1985 the company name became Cheval Quancard (cheval meaning horse in French) as an homage to horse symbolising loyalty, wisdom and conquest.
Food pairing
Enjoy with red meat, rich casseroles and cheese.
