Founded in 1844 by Pierre Quancard, the Cheval Quancard company has grown over the years and now owns ten chateaux in various prestigious appellations. As a negociant, the company also has partnerships with additional chateaux as well. Cheval Quancard prides itself on offering a range of Bordeaux wines which surpass expectations in terms of quality, diversity, authenticity and value.

The origins of Chateau Vieux Cardinal Lafaurie date back to the 12th century, when the order of the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem set up a hospital to care for crusaders and pilgrims. Cabernet Franc vines were planted then to produce the wine for mass. The Château Vieux Cardinal Lafaurie was bought by Marcel Quancard in 1978.
