Tasting Note

Beautiful deep pink colour leads on to attractive floral and citrus notes on the nose. The palate is elegant with pure, bright fruit in an off-dry style, creating the perfect balance between ripe fruit and acidity.

Producer

LaCheteau is first and foremost a family business founded by André Lacheteau in 1987, based in Anjou. André has built a reputation which stretches far beyond the French borders thanks to his dynamism and passion for the Loire terroirs. LaCheteau is exported to over 50 countries and the portfolio covers all regions of the Loire Valley from the Pays Nantais (the Muscadet region) to Anjou and Saumur, Touraine and the vineyards of the Centre area (Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé).

Winemaking

Harvest takes place when the grapes reach maturity in order to combine the fruitiness and roundness of Gamay and Grolleau with the structure of Cabernet Franc.

The grapes are pressed until the deep signature pink colour so typical of Rose d’Anjou is achieved, then the wine is fermented in stainless steel to preserve the wine’s fresh fruity profile.

Fun Fact

The Loire Valley is the second biggest producer of French AOC rosé wines (first being Languedoc) Over a quarter of all wine produced in the Loire is rose.

The sweet wines of Anjou are grown in an area nicknamed “Anjou Noir”. This name, that translates into "Black Anjou", comes from the famously dark colour of the local schist soils.

Food pairing

Serve as an aperitif, with cured meats, mixed salads or strawberry tart. A delicious wine for summer sipping.
