Producer
Home to the Sichel family since 1961, Château Angludet is one of the oldest properties in Margaux and the Médoc, with a history which goes back to the twelfth century. It is named after Bertrand d'Angludet, a knight and lord of the noble residence which stood on this site in 1150. Since 1758, the vineyard of Château Angludet has retained a configuration down the centuries which is very close to the original, 93 percent of the current surface area having nurtured vines for more than 250 years which is exceptional continuity for a vineyard.
La Dame d’Angludet is the second wine from Château Angludet and was until the 2017 vintage known as La Reserve d’Angludet. The wine offers amazing value for money within Margaux with a typical sensory experience of the appellation at an approachable price
Winemaking
Fermentation is in temperature-controlled vats and the wine is macerated for 20 to 30 days. Ageing in barrel (30% new each year for tannic effect) for 12 months with racking every 3 months.
2017 could be described as a difficult vintage for Bordeaux winemakers. Château Angludet is one of the most notable wineries in the Margaux appellation and they decided not to create a Grand Vin this year. Instead, all efforts were focused on La Dame d’Angludet. The end result is an opulent and elegant wine so typical of Angludet.
Fun Fact
La Dame d’Angludet is the second wine from Château Angludet and was until the 2017 vintage known as La Reserve d’Angludet. The new name is a sincere tribute to the women who have contributed directly or indirectly to Chateau d’Angludet dating from the 12th century.
