Tasting Note

Soft velvety wine with black currant and cherry fruit notes intertwines with subtle spices and smooth tannins in the finish.

Producer

The vineyard of Château Mezain is located in the middle of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, on a clay/silt terroir. Since 1997, when the Despagne family signed the "Charter of quality and integrated farm management", the quality and fame of the wine has increasingly improved with the Chateau receiving many awards in recent years.

Winemaking

Vines on the estate are at least 25 years old and produce fruit with refined fruity elements. Grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness to ensure high fruit concentrations of flavour. Traditional vinification takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.

Fun Fact

Even though the Chateau is in the Entre-Deux-Mers region on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, the estate focuses on a blend of 80% Merlot & 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is typical of the Right Bank, and especially of the elegant Saint-Emilion wines which are predominantly Merlot.

Food pairing

Try a delectable venison stew with porcini mushrooms and other rich winter roasts

“Very dark color with purplish reflections. Very pure nose with accents of black fruits. On the palate a very dense attack, very ripe tannins and fruit which expresses itself without constraint. A traditional Bordeaux for roast meat”
