Tasting Note
Intensely perfumed aromas of flowers and fresh blueberry lead on to a lush palate of berries & cherries balanced with subtle spicy pepperiness. Smoky spice and dark chocolate notes develop in the lingering finish.
Winemaking
Garnacha grapes thrive in high altitude vineyards in Calatayud’s warm, dry climate. The grapes slowly ripen over one of the longest growing seasons in Europe resulting in succulent intensely flavoured grapes. Some of the gnarly vines from the mountain vineyards of Antea are one hundred years old.
Fun Fact
Pablo Old Vine Garnacha was inspired by Pablo Picasso who stated “Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.” Thus, as the vines’ fruit is destroyed, the wine of Pablo is created. An original Cubist painting on the label reinforces this homage to Pablo Picasso.
Food pairing
Rich meat based dishes with strongly flavoured sauces as well as strong cheese and Iberian charcuterie.
