Tasting Note

Delicate, translucent and shiny colour, a very pale pink. With its seductive floral aromas, the nose immediately transports us to the Provençal scrubland. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied and generous with fruity aromas of citrus, grapefruit and figs, perfectly balanced by a nice mineral structure. The finish is long with a hint of bitterness that offers an irresistible iodine and lemony character. A real explosion of flavours full of elegance.

Producer

The Château Miraval estate includes over 1800 acres, 2 valleys, a lake and a world-famous recording studio. Over its long history, the estate has been, home to a monastic practice, members of the French court in the 14th century and the musician and composer Jacques Loussier in the 1970s. Today, the estate is where the Pitt and Perrin families produce legendary Rosé wines, combining Famille Perrin’s expertise in winemaking and Pitt Family’s artistic sensitivity. On exceptional clay and limestone terroirs, the vines are planted in protective, stone-walled terraces, at an average of 1200 feet perfect for a soaring balance of harmony and freshness in the wines. There are no herbicides, pesticides or chemicals used.

Winemaking

Coming from plots on the French Riviera, surrounded by olive trees and pine trees, Studio by Miraval is strongly influenced by the sea sprays and the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea. These salty soils give the wine a unique character and an almost iodized finish.

All the varieties are vinified by direct pressing, with the Cinsault and Tibouren in stainless steel vats. The Grenache & Rolle are partially vinified in tulip-shaped concrete vats with a rounded bottom. This ovoid shape gives rise to a natural convection movement that suspends the lees creating the same effect as a batonnage and gives the wine a lot of structure.

Fun Fact

The name of this wine, Studio by Miraval, was not chosen by chance. In 1977, jazz musician Jacques Loussier, the owner of the estate at the time, had a recording studio built there, and hosted international artists of the caliber of Pink Floyd, The Cure, Muse, AC/DC, Wham, Sting, The Cranberries, Rammstein and Chris Rea. Turning their backs on the famous studios of London and elsewhere, they came for the quality of the sound but also for the inspiration procured by this place where creativity can flourish, and thus the inspiration for Studio by Miraval

Food pairing

As well as being suitable for accompanying light dishes such as appetisers, salads and poultry, we can follow the recommendation of Winemaker Marc Perrin;

“Studio by Miraval is the Rosé that you sip on a terrace in Saint-Tropez, whilst savouring seafood on a boat in the coves of Cassis, or at a picnic in the shade of the pines at Brégançon… it’s a Rosé made just for this kind of hedonistic lifestyle, with the sea as its backdrop.”

Awards & Accolades

90 points Vinous

"Pale pink. Racy and focused on the nose, displaying spice-tinged red fruit and citrus pith scents and a hint of florality. In a tense, nervy style, showing fine delineation to its strawberry, redcurrant and clementine flavours. Finishes tight and long, with the citrus fruit and floral notes repeating."
