Tasting Note
This dry wine is highly aromatic with tropical fruit aromas and some white flowers. It has a refreshingly crisp medium acidity and minerality on the palate, so typical of Sauvignon Blanc with layers of apple, apricot, pomelo and zesty gooseberry
Producer
The vineyard of Château Mezain is located in the middle of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, on a clay/silt terroir. Since 1997, when the Despagne family signed the "Charter of quality and integrated farm management", the quality and fame of the wine has increasingly improved with the Chateau receiving many awards in recent years.
Winemaking
Vines on the estate are at least 25 years old and produce fruit with refined fruity elements. Grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness to ensure high fruit concentrations of flavour. Traditional vinification takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
Fun Fact
Entre-Deux-Mers is named after its geographical location (“between two seas,” sometimes translated as “rivers” or “tides”), which refers to its situation in the lands between the Garonne and the Dordogne Rivers. These rivers provide the location with a mild, maritime climate and soils made up mainly of a mix of clay and limestone. This is the perfect terroir for zesty fresh Sauvignon Blanc
Food pairing
A very fish friendly wine which also pairs well with veal and white poultry. Also suitable as an aperitif or sundowner.
