Tasting Note
Gorgeous aromas of succulent plums and berries are tempered with fennel notes. On the palate there are plenty of forest fruit tempered with savoury hoisin and herbal rooibos. The oak influence is very subtle and balances the fruit nicely

Producer
Beyerskloof lies in the heart of one of the world's classic red wine areas, Stellenbosch, in the Cape Winelands of South Africa. From its carefully tended vines come wines of international class. Only the finest quality grapes are selected, and then treated in the cellar with unhurried expertise and time-honoured techniques to produce wines of exceptional character.

Winemaking
The Pinotage grapes are processed to ensure plenty of colour and flavour are extracted from the deep purple black skins. A period of malaolactic fermentation enhances the mothfeel and adds body. Finally some time on oak enhances the tannins and adds some spice notes

Fun Fact
Pinotage is the national grape of South Africa and is a crossing of Pinot Noir and Cinsaut. Delicate Pinot Noir does not thrive in South Africa, while Cinsaut tended to have overly robust flavours. The resulting Pinotage has very dark purple black skin and plenty of tannin along with deep plum, raspberry and liquorice flavours with a hint of native rooibos. Although some viticulturists are experimenting with Pinotage in California and New Zealand, it remains South Africa’s flagship grape.

Food pairing
Bring on the braai!! This is a great partner for grilled meats and veggies. It’s equally at home with a charcuterie platter and strong cheeses.
