Producer

Dusky Sounds is a winery from the Waipara Hills wine region in Marlborough- New Zealand. The winery has a very mythical hue around it since it is believed that Maori camped in Dusky Bay in pre-European times and that it was first discovered by the infamous Captain Cook. Simon McGeorge the winery oenologist is focusing his passion to make diversified fresh wines suitable for everyday occasions with an emphasis on memorable fruit forward wines so typical of New Zealand

Winemaking

The Waipara Hills microclimate is ideal for producing top quality Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Plenty of sunshine and cool nights result in full flavoured grapes. Interventions in the winery are minimal to allow the fruit flavours to shine through.

Fun Fact

Marlborough is considered to be the cradle of New Zealand wines because it hosts almost half of the country’s vineyards within its borders. Marlborough focuses more on white wines, Sauvignon Blanc being without any doubt the heart and soul of this wine region.

Food pairing

Serve well chilled to appreciate this crisp zesty wine. Ideal as a summer sipper with salted almonds it has a natural affinity for fresh seafood, lightly cooked or “au naturel”
