A classic, medium-bodied wine brimming with layers of red and dark cherry that are complemented by notes of toasted oak, brown spice and nutmeg. The mouthfeel is full and plush with a long, rewarding finish.

Producer

Mark West was founded in 1978 in the heart of Sonoma with the desire to craft remarkable Pinot Noir delivering exceptional quality at affordable prices. With equal parts patience, hard work and passion, they have followed their dream from vineyard to barrel to bottle, rewarded by knowing that those who enjoy these wines savour every glass.

Winemaking

Pinot Noir the grape is hard to grow, and once it enters the winery, it's important to have a gentle hand during the winemaking process. The grapes are first gently destemmed and crushed winery. Daily punch-downs and pump-overs take place during fermentation in small tanks to extract flavor and colour. After a light pressing the wine is then aged in French and Hungarian oak for approximately eight months before bottling.

Fun Fact

Mark West’s forte and obsession is Pinot Noir. The grape is an interesting one: It's thin-skinned and fickle, which means it's not easy to grow. Even the slightest change in temperature can throw it off, which is why the best cool, dry climates are sought out when choosing vineyards. The result is a wonderfully complex wine and a category leader in California

Food pairing

Medium in body with soft tannins, this wine pairs perfectly with grilled salmon and roasted pork tenderloin.
