On the nose the plum and Morello cherry aromas are typical of Brunello and tempered with woody nuances and earthiness. Layers of fruit continue on the palate with gentle soft spices. Tannins are evident from 30 months in oak, but not intrusive and balance the finish nicely. The 2015 vintage was very successful and is aging beautifully. It is drinking “a point” now, however, decanting will open up the wine with a longer finish.
Tasting Note
Argiano is one of the oldest wineries in Tuscany and can proudly trace its origins back to 1580. In 1967 it was one of the founders of the Brunello Consortium. The winery has been completely modernised in recent years and in 2019 became the first plastic-free winery in Montalcino. For Brunello di Montalcino, Argiano uses only selected vineyard parcels from Sangiovese vines which are up to 60 years old.
