Producer
The motto of the Cheval Quancard wine company is “l'émotion des bordeaux nous inspire“. “We are inspired by the emotion of Bordeaux”
Founded in 1844 by Pierre Quancard, the Cheval Quancard company has grown over the years and now owns ten chateaux in various prestigious appellations. As a negociant, the company also has partnerships with additional chateaux as well. Cheval Quancard prides itself on offering a range of Bordeaux wines which surpass expectations in terms of quality, diversity, authenticity and value.
Château de Bordes-Quancard was originally a stud farm. Due to this unique historical link, there is a more powerful association between the worlds of wine and horses than at most other properties. Today, the château’s winery has replaced the stables of times past, but its soul remains intact. So it was that the Chai de Bordes was created, in tribute to this property’s unique past.
Winemaking
Traditional Bordeaux vinification with at least 12 months, and up to 15 months, ageing in stainless steel vats
Fun Fact
The first Chateau owned by Pierre Quancard was Château de Bordes-Quancard which was originally a stud farm. In 1985 the company name became Cheval Quancard (cheval meaning horse in French) as an homage to horse symbolising loyalty, wisdom and conquest.
Food pairing
Delicious with red meat and game, roast poultry and soft cheese.
