Tasting Note

A velvety, deep ruby hued wine with a light tannin structure. This Pinot Noir opens with aromas of plum, cherry preserves and violet in the glass. The forward palate brims with layers of blackberry pie, fig and caramelized brown sugar that leads to a lovely medium long finish with a touch of toast.

Producer

Founded in 1986, Estancia has built a portfolio of award-winning wines and has been delivering high quality boutique style wines to consumers for over 30 years. Estancia wines are sourced from vineyards across California with distinct defining qualities that shine through in the wines.

Winemaking

Harvest takes place during early morning hours from select vineyards in the Central Coast (and some from Monterey County) so the grapes will be at peak ripeness. After harvest, the Pinot Noir grapes are cold soaked in stainless steel tanks for up to three days. Once fermentation has begun, the juice is pumped over the must two to three times a day for an average of eight days. The wine is then transferred onto oak and aged for six months

Fun Fact

Estancia, which is translated from the Spanish word for “estate,” emphasizes the winery’s conviction that the world’s best wines capture the essence of their place of origin.

Food pairing

This wine is a perfect pair with grilled salmon or glazed ham. Meat wise you have a wide selection here from duck, roasted chicken, pork, rabbit, and beef bourguignon for example.
