Tasting Note

An inviting bouquet of plums and figs blends with vanilla notes from oak aging leading on to a dense palate of ripe juicy plums with toasted briche notes in the persistent finish.

Producer

Septima winery’s vineyards are located in the in the prestigious region of Lujan de Cuyo in Agrelo in the wonderful province of Mendoza by the majestic Andes mountain range. This high altitude terroir offers optimum conditions to make high quality wines. With 360 hectares of cultivated land and balanced levels of production, Septima offers a wide range of consistently high quality wines all manually farmed.

Winemaking

Hand harvested in the cool morning hours, the Malbec fruit destemmed and gently crushed and placed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for maceration and fermentation. Natural malolactic fermentation is discernible in the creamy mouth filling palate. The wine is aged six months in French and American oak barrels. These barrels are second-use, thus the tannic influence is subtle with a hint of sweet toast.

Fun Fact

Malbec was originally associated with south west France but has now found its spiritual home in Argentina. It thrives on high altitude plains around 900m about sea level. The vineyards of Septima are among the highest in Mendoza at 1050m above sea level.

Food pairing

The Septima Malbec would is perfect with a traditional asado of barbequed lamb or beef with a smoky rub. A casual outdoor party on a cool night is crying out for this delicious wine.
