Producer
Established in 1883 at the foot of the Andes mountain range, in Mendoza, Argentina, Trapiche finds, in the exploration of the land and its natural resources, an open door to new challenges and progress. The winery was a pioneer in introducing Bordeaux grape varieties and leading modern winemaking techniques, as well as in exploring microterroirs and finding uncharted sites for winegrowing. The leading export winery of Argentina, Trapiche now produces more than 3.5 million cases of wine per year and is available in over 80 countries.
Winemaking
The Trapiche Vineyards tier is a collection of hand-harvested wines from grapes grown at 2,000 feet in elevation in Mendoza and aged in stainless steel tanks to bring out the fruit and acidity, providing fresh, pure flavours. Chardonnay grapes are destemmed to reduce tannic influence and undergo cold maceration to enhance the fresh fruit flavours and acidity level. The finished wine has a short time in oak to add subtle vanilla notes to very subtle tannins.
Fun Fact
Trapiche’s motto is “where there is soil, the sky is the limit” and this leads the winery to explore extensive lands in search of new vine and wine experiences. The new labels for the Vineyards range play with this motto with twinkling stars and a soaring Harpy Eagle reminiscent of “the sky is the limit”.
Food pairing
A perfect choice for seafood lovers since the pleasant acidity matches seafood “au nature” while mellow apple flavours pair well with poached and lightly grilled fish dishes
